Spastazoline is a first-in-class, potent and selective spastin (a microtubule-severing AAA protein) inhibitor, with an IC50 of 99 nM for Human spastin. Spastazoline shows no effect on ATPase activity of a recombinant human VPS4. Spastin is a microtubule-severing AAA (ATPases associated with diverse
cellular activities) protein needed for cell division and intracellular
vesicle transport.
