Background:
Difloxacin HCl is a quinolone antimicrobial antibiotic [1].
Quinolone antibiotics target bacterial DNA gyrase which is required during DNA replication, subsequent DNA synthesis and ultimately cell division.
In unselected cultured human neuroblastoma cells, difloxacin (50 microg/ml) increased sensitivity to the multidrug resistance-associated protein (MRP) substrates. Daunorubicin, doxorubicin, vincristine and potassium antimony tartrate is proportional to the level of MRP expression, which proves that difloxacin HCl reverse drug resistance in human neuroblastoma cells [1].
Difloxacin HCl is a quinolone antimicrobial antibiotic and may reverse drug resistance in human neuroblastoma cells. Difloxacin HCl is commonly used in clinical in vitro antimicrobial susceptibility tests against gram-positive and gram-negative microbial isolates. Medical microbiologists use AST results to recommend antibiotic treatment options for infected patients.
