Incensole is a diterpene originally isolated from frankincense produced by B. carterii. It inhibits degradation of inhibitor of NF-κB (IκBα) in a concentration-dependent manner in TNF-α-stimulated HeLa cells when used at concentrations ranging from 60 to 140 μM.
