Background:

L-Carnitine-d₃is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of L-carnitine by GC- or LC-MS. L-Carnitine is an essential metabolite that has diverse roles in metabolism, most notably facilitating the transport of long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondrial matrix for β-oxidation.^1,2L-Carnitine is obtained from dietary sources or by the metabolism of lysine and methionine. It is also important for the maintenance of coenzyme A stores.
