Background:

Dimidium is a trypanocide.¹,²In vivo, dimidium (0.25-0.7 mg/kg) reduces parasite burden inT. congolense-infected mice.¹It also completely clears trypanosomes from the peripheral blood in zebu oxen naturally infected withT. congolensewhen administered intramuscularly at a dose of 0.75 mg/kg.²Formulations containing dimidium have previously been used in the treatment of trypanosomiasis in cattle.
