Background:

11β-13,14-dihydro-15-keto Prostaglandin F-d9(11β-13,14-dihydro-15-keto PGF-d9) is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of 11β-13,14-dihydro-15-keto PGFby GC- or LC-MS. 11β-13,14-dihydro-15-keto PGFis a metabolite of prostaglandin D2in the 15-hydroxy PGDH pathway.1,2Infusion or inhalation of tritiated PGD2in normal males results in the appearance of peak levels of both 11β-PGF, as the immediate product, and 11β-13,14-dihydro-15-keto PGFin the plasma within 10 minutes.1Homogenates of human lung metabolize PGD2first to 11β-PGFand then to 11β-15-keto-PGFin the presence of NAD+, but not 11β-13,14-dihydro-15-keto PGF.2Guinea pig liver and kidney homogenates metabolize PGD2to 11β-13,14-dihydro-15-keto PGF,via11β-PGF, in the presence of NAD+and NADP+.2
