背景信息：
现已在人体中发现三种不同的 PCTAIRE 同工型（PCTAIRE 1、PCTAIRE 2 和 PCTAIRE 3），它们都属于丝氨酸/苏氨酸蛋白激酶 CDK 家族。这些蛋白的核心激酶结构域两侧各有一个唯一的氨基末端和羧基末端结构域。CDK 蛋白已知可调控细胞周期。所有三个 PCTAIRE 同工型均在有丝分裂后脑细胞中高度表达并且具有催化活性，表明它们在除细胞分裂外的进程中发挥作用 (1)。PCTAIRE 1 是一种细胞浆内磷蛋白，其激酶活性在 G2 和 S 期达到顶峰 (2)。虽然有一项研究表明 PCTAIRE 1 的催化活性需要与调节性组分（如周期素）的非共价相互作用，但其他研究表明单体蛋白处于完全激活的状态 (3)。Cdk5/p25 复合体在 Ser95 位点磷酸化 PCTAIRE 1，从而增强其激酶活性 (4)。
