SS18L2 (SS18 Like 2, also known as SYT homolog 2) is a Protein Coding gene. The SS18L2 gene, located on 3p22.1, is conserved in Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, and frog. SS18L2 belongs to the SS18 family and is homologous to SS18. An important paralog of this gene is SS18L1. SS18L2 is widely expressed in the lymph node, prostate, and other tissues. The highly conserved synovial sarcoma-associated protein SS18 is thought to act as a transcriptional co-activator through interactions with various proteins involved in (epigenetic) gene regulation. The SS18 SNH domain appears to act as a major interface for these protein-protein interactions.
