ZNF320 (Zinc Finger Protein 320, also known as ZFPL), a member of Krüppel-like zinc finger gene family, encodes a Kruppel-like zinc finger protein. Members of this protein family are involved in activation or repression of transcription. ZNF320 is related to gene expression and Herpes simplex virus 1 infection. An important paralog of this gene is ZNF616. Krüppel-like zinc finger proteins constitute one of the largest families of transcription factors. Typically, these proteins contain two or more Cys2-His2-type zinc fingers that are separated by the conserved consensus sequence, T/SGEKPY/F. Krüppel-like zinc finger proteins are divided into several subfamilies based on the number of zinc finger motifs, sequence homology between the zinc-finger domains, and the presence of specific repressor and activation domains.
