ZKSCAN2 (Zinc Finger With KRAB And SCAN Domains 2) is located on human chromosome 16p12.1. The ZKSCAN2 protein is broadly expressed in testis, ovary and other tissues. Structurally, the encoded ZKSCAN2 protein is reported to be 110941 Da in mass. The ZKSCAN2 (also known as ZNF694; ZSCAN31; ZSCAN34) gene is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, and rat. 114 organisms have orthologs with human gene ZKSCAN2. ZKSCAN2 is related to nucleic acid binding and chromatin binding. An important paralog of this gene is ZSCAN29. ZKSCAN2 may be involved in transcriptional regulation.
