背景信息:
KLHL17 protein is expressed in neurons of most regions of the brain. It contains an N-terminal BTB domain, which mediates dimerization of the protein, and a C-terminal Kelch domain, which mediates binding to F-actin. KLHL17 interacts with the kainate-type glutamate receptor subunit GRIK2, a key member of the postsynaptic density network centered on DLG4. KLHL17 also binds actin in the postsynaptic density, and may be involved in structural support of the postsynaptic membrane in a manner similar to the ISS-associated MAGI2. KLHL17 is associated with some diseases, including Juvenile Absence Epilepsy and Chromosome 1P36 Deletion Syndrome. KLHL17 is related to actin filament binding and POZ domain binding. An important paralog of this gene is KLHL20.
