DAPI 2HCl, the dihydrochloride salt of DAPI, is a cell-permeable fluorescent probe and DNA-binding dye preferential to adenine and thymine rich DNA and can be used for flow cytometry. It acts by binding in the minor grove of A-T rich sequences of DNA, and is used to stain DNA and chromosomes, with a preference for adenine and thymine rich DNA.
