3-Hydroxybenzaldehyde is a precursor compound for phenolic compounds, such as Protocatechualdehyde . 3-Hydroxybenzaldehyde is a substrate of aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) in rats and humans (ALDH2). 3-Hydroxybenzaldehyde has vasculoprotective effects in vitro and in vivo[1].
