CC -!- FUNCTION: K88 minor fimbrial subunit, plays an essential role in the
CC biogenesis of the K88 fimbriae. Fimbriae (also called pili), are polar
CC filaments radiating from the surface of the bacterium to a length of
CC 0.5-1.5 micrometers and numbering 100-300 per cell. They enable
CC bacteria to colonize the epithelium of specific host organs.
