CC -!- FUNCTION: Flagellin is the subunit protein which polymerizes to form
CC the filaments of bacterial flagella. FlaC is not essential for polar
CC flagellar synthesis and swimming motility. Homomer of FlaC is not able
CC to form a functional filament.
CC -!- SUBUNIT: Heteromer of multiple flagellin subunits including FlaA,
CC FlaB/D, FlaC, FlaE and FlaF. Homomer of FlaC is not able to form a
CC functional filament.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Secreted. Bacterial flagellum.
CC -!- MISCELLANEOUS: V.parahaemolyticus possesses two flagellar systems: a
CC single polar flagellum propels the bacterium in liquid (swimming),
CC while multiple lateral (peritrichous) flagella move the bacterium over
CC surfaces (swarming). The polar flagellum is synthesized constitutively
CC but lateral flagella are produced only under conditions in which the
CC polar flagellum is not functional.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the bacterial flagellin family. {ECO:0000305}.
