RT "Function of coenzyme F420-dependent NADP reductase in methanogenic archaea
RT containing an NADP-dependent alcohol dehydrogenase.";
RL Arch. Microbiol. 168:396-402(1997).
CC -!- FUNCTION: Catalyzes the reduction of NADP(+) with F420H(2) via hydride
CC transfer, and the reverse reaction, i.e. the reduction of F420 with
CC NADPH. In M.organophilum, an alcohol-fermenting methanogen containing
CC an NADP-dependent alcohol dehydrogenase, is probably involved in the
CC regeneration of F420H(2) required for CO(2) reduction to methane. Thus,
CC during growth on alcohol and CO(2), the F420-dependent NADP reductase
CC probably has the function of coupling the NADP-dependent oxidation of
CC the alcohol to the aldehyde with the F420-dependent reduction of CO(2)
CC to methane. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:9325428}.
CC -!- CATALYTIC ACTIVITY:
CC Reaction=NADP(+) + reduced coenzyme F420-(gamma-L-Glu)(n) = 2 H(+) +
CC NADPH + oxidized coenzyme F420-(gamma-L-Glu)(n);

CC -!- BIOPHYSICOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES:
CC Kinetic parameters:
CC KM=0.1 mM for F420 (at pH 6.0) {ECO:0000269|PubMed:9325428};
CC KM=0.05 mM for NADPH (at pH 6.0) {ECO:0000269|PubMed:9325428};
