CC -!- FUNCTION: D-glucosyltransferase that acts on the aglycone core,
CC transferring D-glucose to the phenolic hydroxyl of OH-Phegly(4) to form
CC a devancoaminyl-vancomycin (DVV) intermediate in the biosynthesis of
CC glycopeptide antibiotic vancomycin. Also able to glycosylate A47934, an
CC antibiotic with a teicoplanin-like heptapeptide, but lacking sugar
CC residues. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11294642, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9115410}.
CC -!- PATHWAY: Antibiotic biosynthesis; vancomycin biosynthesis.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11294642}.
CC -!- MISCELLANEOUS: In A.orientalis different glycosyltransferases are
CC involved in biosynthesis of the vancomycin group of antibiotics. GtfA
CC (AC P96558), GtfB (AC P96559) and GtfC (AC P96560) are involved in
CC biosynthesis of antibiotic chloroeremomycin, while GtfD (AC Q9AFC7) and
CC GtfE are involved in biosynthesis of vancomycin.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 28 family.
CC {ECO:0000305}.
