CC -!- MISCELLANEOUS: This virus has been isolated from patient with fulminant
CC hepatitis. A genomic mutation in 1898 creates a stop codon at position
CC 28 of HBeAg, without affecting capsid open reading frame. The HBeAg
CC negative variants of HBV are associated with fulminant hepatitis, but
CC can also be found in patients with persistent infection and chronic
CC hepatitis.
