CC -!- MISCELLANEOUS: This virus has been isolated from a low active healthy
CC carrier of HBV, negative for HBeAg. A genomic mutation in 1898 creates
CC a stop codon at position 28 of HBeAg, without affecting capsid open
CC reading frame. The HBeAg negative variants of HBV are associated with
CC fulminant hepatitis, but can also be found in patients with persistent
CC infection and chronic hepatitis.
