CC -!- FUNCTION: Involved in the production of 12-oxo-phytodienoic acid
CC (OPDA), a precursor of jasmonic acid (JA). Required for the production
CC of JA in response to wounding. Necessary for flower and coleoptile
CC development regulation by light, including blue (BL), red (RL) and far
CC red (FR) lights. Involved in the auxin-mediated signaling pathway
CC leading to growth stimulation. Essential for photodestruction of phyA
CC upon activation by RL and FR. Implicated in responses to salt stress
CC (NaCl). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q75KD7}.
CC -!- FUNCTION: Confers resistance to incompatible strains of the blast
CC fungus Magnaporthe grisea, jasmonic acid (JA) thus playing a
CC significant role in the resistance to fungal infection. Implicated in
CC riboflavin-induced resistance to the sheath blight Rhizoctonia solani.
CC Required for Pseudomonas fluorescens-mediated JA-dependent induced
CC systemic resistance (ISR). Confers some resistance, independently of
CC the JA pathway but probably via OPDA accumulation, to brown planthopper
CC (BPH, Nilaparvata lugens), a destructive, monophagous, piercing-sucking
CC insect, mainly by reducing its feeding activity and survival rate.
CC Triggers resistance to the chewing insect striped stem borer (SSB)
CC Chilo suppressalis, to the root hemiparasite witchweed Striga
CC hermonthica, and to the root feeder insect rice water weevil
CC Lissorhoptrus oryzophilus, in a JA-dependent manner, by attenuating
CC both the growth mass and growth rate of caterpillars.
CC {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q75KD7}.
CC -!- CATALYTIC ACTIVITY:
CC Reaction=(9Z,13S,15Z)-12,13-epoxyoctadeca-9,11,15-trienoate =
CC (10Z,15Z)-12-oxophytodienoate; Xref=Rhea:RHEA:22592,
CC ChEBI:CHEBI:36438, ChEBI:CHEBI:57411; EC=5.3.99.6;
CC Evidence={ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q75KD7};
CC -!- PATHWAY: Lipid metabolism; polyunsaturated fatty acid biosynthesis.
CC {ECO:0000305}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Plastid, chloroplast
CC {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q9LS01}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the allene oxide cyclase family. {ECO:0000305}.
