CC -!- FUNCTION: Type I interferon-stimulated gene (ISG) that plays a critical
CC role in antiviral and antibacterial activity. During bacterial
CC infection, promotes macrophage differentiation and facilitates
CC inflammatory cytokine secretion (By similarity). Plays a role in the
CC control of respiratory syncycial virus/RSV infection, reducing the
CC ability of the virus to replicate (PubMed:32611756). Acts as a feedback
CC regulator of IFN responses by negatively regulating IKBKB kinase
CC activity through interaction with FKBP5 (By similarity).
CC {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q53G44, ECO:0000269|PubMed:32611756}.
CC -!- FUNCTION: Precursor of the histocompatibility antigen HA-28 in BALB.B
CC mice. More generally, minor histocompatibility antigens refer to
CC immunogenic peptide which, when complexed with MHC, can generate an
CC immune response after recognition by specific T-cells. The peptides are
CC derived from polymorphic intracellular proteins, which are cleaved by
CC normal pathways of antigen processing. The binding of these peptides to
CC MHC molecules and its expression on the cell surface can stimulate T-
CC cell responses and thereby trigger graft rejection or graft-versus-host
CC disease (GVHD). More specifically, HA-28 minor antigen is transcribed
CC in the BALB.B donor but not in host C57BL/6 cells. HA-28 is presented
CC to the donor BALB.B cell surface by Kb MHC. This complex HA-28/Kb MHC
CC elicits cytotoxic T-cell response in C57BL/6 mice immunized with BALB.B
CC spleen cells. It induces C57BL/6 mice cells recognition and lysis by
CC CD8 T-cell from BALB.B mice. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11021531}.
CC -!- SUBUNIT: HA-28 antigen forms a complex with Kb MHC in BALB.B donor
CC cells. Interacts with FKBP5; this interaction modulates IKBKB and IKBKE
CC kinase activities (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q53G44}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11021531}.

CC Name=1;
CC IsoId=Q9BDB7-1; Sequence=Displayed;
CC Name=2;
CC IsoId=Q9BDB7-2; Sequence=VSP_034010;
CC -!- TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed on cells of the hematopoietic lineage.
CC Detected in transformed cell lines of the macrophage and B-cell
CC lineage. Expressed in spleen and bone marrow.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11021531}.
CC -!- INDUCTION: By respiratory syncytial virus/RSV (PubMed:32611756). HA-28
CC antigen is expressed after induction by inflammatory cytokines.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11021531, ECO:0000269|PubMed:32611756}.
CC -!- DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE: Deletion mutants result in elevated respiratory
CC syncycial virus/RSV infection in vitro. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:32611756}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the IFI44 family. {ECO:0000305}.
