CC -!- FUNCTION: Integrase is necessary for integration of the phage into the
CC host genome by site-specific recombination. In conjunction with
CC excisionase, integrase is also necessary for excision of the prophage
CC from the host genome. Part of the cryptic P4-like prophage CP4-57, it
CC excises the prophage when overexpressed, which also requires
CC integration host factor (encoded by ihfA and ihfB) (PubMed:7511583).
CC Overexpression of AlpA leads to excision of the CP4-57 prophage, which
CC inactivates ssrA (the gene upstream of the prophage) that encodes tmRNA
CC which is required to rescue stalled ribosomes in a process known as
CC trans-translation (PubMed:7511582). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:7511583}.
