CC -!- CAUTION: Was originally identified in the small subunit (28S) of
CC mitochondrial ribosomes that were purified on sucrose gradients
CC (PubMed:11279123, PubMed:22015679). This observation has been
CC challenged by experiments showing MRPS36 copurification with the
CC oxoglutarate dehydrogenase complex (OGDC), also called alpha-
CC ketoglutarate dehydrogenase complex (KGDH). Both mitochondrial ribosome
CC 28S subunit and OGDC have a similar size and OGDC is highly abundant,
CC therefore OGDC has been found to contaminate ribosomal preparations
CC performed by sequential centrifugation steps (By similarity). In
CC addition, MRPS36 could not be located in the structure of the human
CC mitochondrial ribosome, supporting the hypothesis that it is not a
