CC -!- FUNCTION: Lanthionine-containing peptide antibiotic (lantibiotic)
CC active on Gram-positive bacteria. Macedovicin inhibits a broad spectrum
CC of lactic acid bacteria, several food spoilage species (e.g.
CC Clostridium spp.) and oral streptococci (PubMed:23122510). The
CC bactericidal activity of lantibiotics is based on depolarization of
CC energized bacterial cytoplasmic membranes, initiated by the formation
