CC   -!- FUNCTION: D-galactose specific lectin. Binds in decreasing order of
CC       affinity: melibiose, N-acetyllactosamine, D-galacturonic acid, D-
CC       galactose, methyl-alpha-D-galactoside, D-galactose, methyl-alpha-D-
CC       galactopyranoside, methyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside and lactose. Binds
CC       also the glycoproteins globotriose, asialofetuin and mucin. Possesses
CC       glycan-dependent cytotoxic activity against Burkitt's lymphoma Raji
CC       cells and erythroleukemia K562 cells. Has calcium-independent
CC       hemagglutinating activity towards human erythrocytes.

CC         Hemagglutinating activity is stable over the pH range 4.0-12.0 but

CC         20-70 degrees Celsius for 60 minutes but is almost lost after
