CC -!- FUNCTION: Auxin response factors (ARFs) are transcriptional factors
CC that bind specifically to the DNA sequence 5'-TGTCTC-3' found in the
CC auxin-responsive promoter elements (AuxREs). Seems to act as
CC transcriptional activator. Formation of heterodimers with Aux/IAA
CC proteins may alter their ability to modulate early auxin response genes
CC expression. Regulates both stamen and gynoecium maturation. Promotes
CC jasmonic acid production. Partially redundant with ARF6. Involved in
CC fruit initiation. Acts as an inhibitor to stop further carpel
CC development in the absence of fertilization and the generation of
CC signals required to initiate fruit and seed development.

CC -!- TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed in the whole plant.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10476078}.
CC -!- DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Expressed in sepals at stages 11, 12 and 13 of
CC flower development. Highly expressed in petals at stages 9-10,
CC decreases at stage 11 and disappears after flower stage 12. In anthers,
CC expressed at stage 11 in the tapetum, disappears early in stage 12 when
CC the tapetum degrades and reappears throughout the anther late in stage
CC 12 to persist at least until stage 13. In stamen filaments, expressed
CC at stages 12 to 13, especially near the apical end of the filament.
CC Expressed throughout the gynoecium at early stages up to stage 12,
CC especially strongly in ovules. Expression in gynoecium decreases late
CC in stage 12, but persists through stage 13, especially near the apical
CC end including the style. Expressed in the mesocarp of the fruit and the
CC carpel septum during fruit growth. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:16107481,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:16829592}.
CC -!- INDUCTION: Repressed by miR167. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17021043}.
CC -!- DOMAIN: Interactions between auxin response factors (ARFs) and Aux/IAA
CC proteins occur through their C-terminal dimerization domains III and
CC IV.
CC -!- DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE: Seedless (parthenocarpic) fruit.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:16829592}.
CC -!- MISCELLANEOUS: [Isoform 2]: May be due to a competing donor splice
CC site. {ECO:0000305}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the ARF family. {ECO:0000305}.
CC -!- SEQUENCE CAUTION:
