CC -!- FUNCTION: Component of the Mediator complex, a coactivator involved in
CC the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent
CC genes. Mediator functions as a bridge to convey information from gene-
CC specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II
CC transcription machinery. The Mediator complex, having a compact
CC conformation in its free form, is recruited to promoters by direct
CC interactions with regulatory proteins and serves for the assembly of a
CC functional preinitiation complex with RNA polymerase II and the general
CC transcription factors. Flowering regulator which suppresses FLC
CC expression, promotes FT and TSF expression and up-regulates SOC1 and
CC FUL mainly in an FT-dependent manner under long-day conditions.
CC Involved in diverse developmental aspects through gene regulation and
CC modulation of the auxin response. Acts closely together with MAB13.
CC Involved in the regulation of embryo patterning and cotyledon
CC organogenesis by transiently repressing a transcriptional program that
CC interferes with this process. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:20023166,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:22247249}.
CC -!- SUBUNIT: Component of the Mediator complex.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus {ECO:0000269|PubMed:22247249}.
CC -!- TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Ubiquitous. Higher expression in vascular tissue,
CC shoot apex and developing floral organs. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:22247249}.
CC -!- DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Expressed first at the dermatogen stage of
CC embryogenesis and then in all cells of the embryo and suspensor through
CC the globular stage. Decreases in the periphery of the hypocotyl and on
CC the abaxial side of cotyledons from the heart stage to the torpedo
CC stage, and by the bent cotyledon stage, restricted to the vascular
CC tissue and the shoot and root apical meristems.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:20023166}.
CC -!- DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE: Abnormal embryo and cotyledon development, and
CC embryo lethality in some cases. When viable, plants are small, with
CC abnormal leaf shape and vascular patterning, ectopic bract-like organs
CC and greatly delayed flowering time and sterile flowers.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:20023166, ECO:0000269|PubMed:22247249}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the Mediator complex subunit 12 family.
CC {ECO:0000305}.
