CC -!- FUNCTION: Component of the Mediator complex, a coactivator involved in
CC the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent
CC genes. Mediator functions as a bridge to convey information from gene-
CC specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II
CC transcription machinery. The Mediator complex, having a compact
CC conformation in its free form, is recruited to promoters by direct
CC interactions with regulatory proteins and serves for the assembly of a
CC functional pre-initiation complex with RNA polymerase II and the
CC general transcription factors (PubMed:22021418, PubMed:24451981).
CC Involved in the regulation of histone H3 lysine tri-methylation
CC (H3K36me3). Associates with the promoter, coding and terminator regions
CC of target genes suggesting its function in transcription initiation,
CC elongation and termination. Multifunctional protein which regulates
CC plant immunity, especially during necrotrophic fungal infection (e.g.
CC B.cinerea and A.brassicicola), flowering time and responses to hormones
CC (e.g. abscisic acid ABA and ethylene) through interactions with
CC distinct transcription factors (PubMed:24451981).
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:22021418, ECO:0000269|PubMed:24451981}.
CC -!- SUBUNIT: Component of the Mediator complex (PubMed:17560376). Interacts
CC with YY1 to suppress disease susceptibility via the repression of genes
CC glutaredoxins GRX480, GRXS13 and thioredoxin TRX-h5. Binds to ABI4 to
CC regulate abscisic acid responses; recruited by ABI4 to ABI5 promoter in
CC the presence of abscisic acid (ABA). Interacts with SUF4 to regulate
CC flowering time; recruited by SUF4 to FLC promoter (PubMed:24451981).
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17560376, ECO:0000269|PubMed:24451981}.
CC -!- INTERACTION:
CC Q9SJZ6; Q6NPF4: MED20A; NbExp=3; IntAct=EBI-1386265, EBI-1386270;
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus {ECO:0000269|PubMed:24451981}.
CC -!- DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE: Deregulated expression of glutaredoxins GRX480,
CC GRXS13 and thioredoxin TRX-h5 leading to enhanced susceptibility to
CC fungal infection (e.g. B.cinerea and A.brassicicola). Altered RNA
CC polymerase II occupancy and histone H3 lysine tri-methylation
CC (H3K36me3) of target genes. Insensitivity to abscisic acid (ABA) and to
CC the ethylene precursor 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC).
CC Delayed flowering. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:24451981}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the Mediator complex subunit 18 family.
CC {ECO:0000305}.
