CC MER1 may function to bring the axial elements of the synaptonemal
CC complex corresponding to homologous chromosomes together by initiating
CC recombination. MER1 might be responsible for regulating the MER2 gene

CC -!- DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: MER1 is synthesized only during meiosis.
CC -!- INDUCTION: Its expression is meiotically induced and required the IME1
CC protein.
