CC -!- FUNCTION: Transcription factor of the NAC family associated with the
CC grain protein content (GPC). Accelerates senescence and increases
CC nutrient remobilization from leaves to developing grains. Sequences of
CC 11 European varieties of H.vulgare tested belongs to the same haplotype
CC while the sequence found in H.spontaneum, an ancestor of the cultivated
CC H.vulgare which has a higher GPC, belongs to an other haplotype.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17124321, ECO:0000269|PubMed:20005003}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus {ECO:0000305}.
CC -!- DOMAIN: The NAC domain includes a DNA-binding domain and a dimerization
CC domain.
CC -!- MISCELLANEOUS: High grain protein content (GPC) is a desirable trait in
CC breadmaking and pasta wheat varieties because of its positive effects
CC on quality and nutritional value while Low GPC is a desirable trait for
CC barley malt and beer production.
