CC -!- FUNCTION: Olfactory receptor that acts as a receptor of Asprosin
CC hormone at the surface of hepatocytes to promote hepatocyte glucose
CC release (PubMed:31230984). Also binds Asprosin in the arcuate nucleus
CC of the hypothalamus, thereby stimulating appetite by promoting
CC orexigenic AgRP neuronal activity (PubMed:32337066). In testis,
CC Asprosin-binding promotes sperm progressive motility and enhances male
CC fertility (PubMed:31798959). The activity of this receptor is mediated
CC by G proteins which activate adenylyl cyclase, resulting in an
CC elevation of intracellular cAMP (PubMed:31230984).
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:31230984, ECO:0000269|PubMed:31798959,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:32337066}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane {ECO:0000269|PubMed:31230984};
CC Multi-pass membrane protein {ECO:0000255|RuleBase:RU363047}.
CC -!- TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Highly expressed in liver but not in adipose tissue
CC (PubMed:31230984). Also expressed at high level in testis
CC (PubMed:31798959). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:31230984,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:31798959}.
CC -!- DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE: Compared to wild-type mice, mutant mice fed on a
CC regular diet show a remarkable decrease in body weight, food intake,
CC fat mass and plasma lipids (PubMed:31230984). Blunted response to
CC Asprosin, including attenuated cAMP levels and hepatic glucose
CC production, as well as improved insulin sensitivity (PubMed:31230984).
CC Mutant mice show significantly reduced food intake in overnight-fasted
CC mice compared with wild-type mice (PubMed:32337066). Male mice display
CC decreased fertility caused by impaired sperm motility
CC (PubMed:31798959). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:31230984,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:31798959, ECO:0000269|PubMed:32337066}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family.
CC {ECO:0000305}.
