CC -!- FUNCTION: Antimicrobial peptide which displays antifungal and
CC antibacterial activity (PubMed:27167617, PubMed:28949065,
CC PubMed:30962256). Has antibacterial activity against the Gram-negative
CC bacterium E.coli ATCC 11775 (MIC=64 ug/ml), the Gram-positive bacterium
CC S.aureus ATCC 25923 (MIC=64 ug/ml), and has antifungal activity against
CC C.albicans ATCC 14053 (MIC=64 ug/ml) (PubMed:27167617). Has antifungal
CC activity against C.albicans ATCC 90028 (MIC=5 uM), C.parapsilosis ATCC
CC 22019 (MIC=5 uM), T.beigelii KCTC 7707 (MIC=2.5 uM), M.furfur KCTC 7744
CC (MIC=5 uM), A.flavus KCTC 6905 (MIC=10 uM) and A.fumigatus KCTC 6145
CC (MIC=5 uM) (PubMed:30962256). In C.albicans, induces oxidative damage
CC through the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) which leads to
CC necrosis and the activation of apoptotic signaling mechanisms such as
CC phosphatidylserine exposure, lipid peroxidation, caspase activation,
CC vacuole and mitochondria dysfunction, however it does not induce DNA
CC fragmentation (PubMed:30962256). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:27167617,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:28949065, ECO:0000269|PubMed:30962256}.
CC -!- INDUCTION: Up-regulated by infection with E.coli.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:27167617}.
