CC -!- FUNCTION: Acts as a glycogen-targeting subunit for PP1 and regulates
CC its activity. Activates glycogen synthase, reduces glycogen
CC phosphorylase activity and limits glycogen breakdown.
CC {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q7TMB3}.
CC -!- SUBUNIT: Interacts with PPP1CC catalytic subunit of PP1 and associates
CC with glycogen. Forms complexes with glycogen phosphorylase, glycogen
CC synthase and phosphorylase kinase which is necessary for its regulation
CC of PP1 activity. {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q7TMB3}.
CC -!- TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Ubiquitously expressed in the examined tissues
CC including brain, muscle, liver and spleen under normoxic condition. Its
CC expression is higher in insulin sensitive tissues (liver and muscle)
CC than in the brain and spleen. Significantly increased expression in the
CC liver and muscle under short-term (1-12 hours) hypoxia exposure.
CC Significantly increased expression after long-term (natural) hypoxia
CC exposure in liver and spleen. No significant differences in expression
CC in brain for any time periods. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:23948083}.
CC -!- INDUCTION: Expression is up-regulated by hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)
CC under hypoxic conditions. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:23948083}.
CC -!- DOMAIN: The N-terminal region is required for binding to PP1, the
CC central region is required for binding to glycogen and the C-terminal
CC region is required for binding to glycogen phosphorylase, glycogen
CC synthase and phosphorylase kinase. {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q7TMB3}.
