CC -!- FUNCTION: Stabilizes dimeric photosystem II (PSII). In its absence no
CC dimeric PSII accumulates and there is a reduction of monomeric PSII.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10950961}.
CC -!- SUBUNIT: Part of the photosystem II complex. PSII is composed of 1 copy
CC each of membrane proteins PsbA, PsbB, PsbC, PsbD, numerous small
CC proteins, at least 3 peripheral proteins of the oxygen-evolving complex
CC and a large number of cofactors. It forms dimeric complexes. Found in
CC monomeric, dimeric and in etioplastic PSII (i.e. before PSII is fully
CC assembled and functional). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q41387}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Plastid, chloroplast thylakoid membrane; Single-
CC pass membrane protein. Note=The N-terminus is found within the
CC thylakoid lumen (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q41387}.
CC -!- DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE: Plants have no obvious physical phenotype.
CC However, there is no dimeric photosystem II (PSII) and there is only a
CC 50% rate of normal oxygen evolution. There is an approximately 40%
CC decrease in the amount of PSII and the oxygen evolving complex in these
CC plants. The monomeric PSII that remains functions normally with respect
CC to electron transfer. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10950961}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the psbW family. {ECO:0000305}.
