CC -!- FUNCTION: Acts as a transcriptional activator. Binds to the GCC-box
CC pathogenesis-related promoter element. Activates plants defense genes.
CC Can confer resistance to Pseudomonas syringae tomato by potentiating
CC the transcription of a set of pathogenesis related genes, downstream to
CC a defense signaling pathway involving PTO and PRF, but probably
CC independent of ethylene, jasmonate and salicylic acid.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10607299, ECO:0000269|PubMed:11768541,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:11971137}.
CC -!- SUBUNIT: Interacts with the Pto kinase.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus {ECO:0000255|PROSITE-ProRule:PRU00366,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:11971137}.
CC -!- INDUCTION: The stronger expression mediated by Pseudomonas syringae
CC tomato during an incompatible interaction (avirulent T1 avrPto strain)
CC than during a compatible one (virulent T1 strain) requires the
CC resistance PTO-R as well as the Pseudomonas resistance and fenthion
CC sensitivity (PRF) gene products. This induction is independent of
CC ethylene (ET), jasmonate (JA) and salicylic acid (SA), and subsequent
CC transcription of PTI5 does not require de novo protein synthesis. Also
CC induced by Xanthomonas oryzae strain PXOA avrXa10, by Pseudomonas
CC fluorescens strain 2-79, by PTO and by cycloheximide. Seems to not be
CC influenced by abiotic stresses (ET, SA, JA and wounding).
