CC -!- FUNCTION: The RecF protein is involved in DNA metabolism; it is
CC required for DNA replication and normal SOS inducibility. RecF binds
CC preferentially to single-stranded, linear DNA. It also seems to bind
CC ATP. Is recruited to repair centers, foci that are the site of double-
CC strand DNA break(s) after RecN and RecO; recruitment may depend on
CC RecO.
CC -!- SUBUNIT: Recruited to foci following DNA damage; probably interacts
CC with RecO.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm, nucleoid
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15186413}. Note=Cytoplasmically located in
CC untreated cells. Recruited to foci following treatment with DNA
CC damaging agents; these foci are presumably the breaks themselves. They
CC are almost always located within nucleoids.
