CC -!- FUNCTION: The RecF protein is involved in DNA metabolism; it is
CC required for DNA replication and normal SOS inducibility. RecF binds
CC preferentially to single-stranded, linear DNA. It also seems to bind
CC ATP (By similarity). Plays no role in chromosomal or plasmid
CC transformation but is required for resolution of chromosome dimers
CC occurring as intermediates in the formation of merodiploids by
CC transformation (PubMed:25569614). {ECO:0000255|HAMAP-Rule:MF_00365,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:25569614}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm {ECO:0000255|HAMAP-Rule:MF_00365}.
CC -!- DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE: Mutant is sensitive to the alkylating agent
CC methyl methanesulfonate and the DNA cross-linking agent mitomycin C.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:25569614}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the RecF family. {ECO:0000255|HAMAP-
CC Rule:MF_00365}.
