RT biosynthetic operon, in vivo interacts with the 5'-untranslated leader of

CC -!- FUNCTION: May be directly involved in the regulation of the rib genes.
CC C-terminal part of RibR specifically binds to RFN of the rib leader of
CC the riboflavin biosynthetic operon. The RFN element is a sequence
CC within the rib-leader mRNA reported to serve as a receptor for an FMN-
CC dependent riboswitch. Possibly, RibR produces the comodulator FMN
CC through its own N-terminal flavokinase activity. FMN-activated RibR may
CC stabilize the anti-anti terminator structure of RFN mRNA, causing
CC transcription termination of the rib genes in trans.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15668000, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17590224}.
CC -!- CATALYTIC ACTIVITY:
CC Reaction=ATP + riboflavin = ADP + FMN + H(+); Xref=Rhea:RHEA:14357,
CC ChEBI:CHEBI:15378, ChEBI:CHEBI:30616, ChEBI:CHEBI:57986,
CC ChEBI:CHEBI:58210, ChEBI:CHEBI:456216; EC=2.7.1.26;
CC -!- INDUCTION: Repressed by the HTH-type transcriptional regulator CymR.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17590224}.
CC -!- DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE: Mutants lacking this gene are deregulated with
CC respect to flavin (riboflavin, FMN and FAD) biosynthesis.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15668000}.
CC -!- MISCELLANEOUS: Overexpression of RibR suppresses the riboflavin-
CC overproducing ribC-defective phenotype, which is the major riboflavin
CC kinase responsible of FMN biosynthesis by riboflavin phosphorylation
CC (PubMed:17590224 and PubMed:15668000).
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the RibR family. {ECO:0000305}.
