CC -!- FUNCTION: Sigma factors are initiation factors that promote the
CC attachment of RNA polymerase to specific initiation sites and are then
CC released. This sigma factor is responsible for the expression of the
CC nitrogen fixation genes. This sigma factor is required for the de novo
CC biogenesis of both flagellum and stalk, and for polar morphogenesis and
CC normal cell division. It may not be involved in nitrogen assimilation.
