CC -!- DOMAIN: The alpha-NTD is essential for RNAP assembly and basal
CC transcription, whereas the alpha-CTD is involved in interaction with
CC transcriptional regulators and with upstream promoter elements (By
CC similarity). The alpha-NTD recognizes upstream AT-rich elements and the
CC alpha-CTD interacts with the transcriptional activator Fis in
