CC -!- FUNCTION: May have dual functions, one in vegetative cells at
CC starvation involving cell-type choice and a later function involving
CC progression to the tipped mound stage. Involved in vesicle fusion in
CC endo- and exocytosis. Involved in L.pneumophila intracellular growth.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15679845}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10747962,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:15679845}. Note=Mostly found in the cytosol but also
CC found associated with both small organelles or vesicles.
CC -!- DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Expressed in vegetative cells. Levels decrease
CC dramatically as development begins, and remain low throughout the
CC aggregation and loose mound stages. The levels become more abundant
CC again at the tight-mound stage and remain high throughout the rest of
CC development and fruiting body formation.
CC -!- INDUCTION: Rapidly up-regulated by hyperosmotic stress, which is
CC dependent on dstC. Strongly inducible by 8-bromo-cGMP and to a lesser
CC extent by 8-bromo-cAMP. Not induced by DIF (differentiation-inducing
CC factor, a chlorinated hexaphenone). Up-regulated following Legionella
CC pneumophilia infection. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12771188,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:16469056}.
CC -!- DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE: Aberrant ratio of prespore to prestalk cells.
CC Cells stall and only 10% of the aggregates form fruiting bodies. The
CC fruiting bodies that do form have abnormal shapes, with enlarged stalks
CC and aberrantly small mass of spores. Cells also show a decreased
CC exocytosis rate, decreased pH of endocytic vesicles, lack of
CC morphologically distinguishable post-lysosomal compartments as well as
CC perturbation of the cell cycle-regulated cytosolic pH. Cells infected
CC with Legionella pneumophilia are defective for maturation of the
CC L.pneumophilia replication vacuole. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10747962,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:15679845, ECO:0000269|PubMed:8951083}.
