CC -!- FUNCTION: Plays an important role in the loading of the cohesin complex
CC on to DNA (By similarity). Forms a heterodimeric complex (also known as
CC cohesin loading complex) with scc-2/SCC2 which mediates the loading of
CC the cohesin complex onto chromatin (By similarity). Required for normal
CC development until the fourth larval stage. Functions cell autonomously
CC to guide migrations during the development of the nervous system.
CC Participates in the guidance of mechanosensory neuron AVM by a slt-1-
CC independent mechanism. Regulates chromosome segregation in early
CC embryos. {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q9Y6X3, ECO:0000269|PubMed:15539489}.
CC -!- SUBUNIT: May heterodimerize with scc-2/SCC2 to form the cohesin loading
CC complex. {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q9Y6X3}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus, nucleoplasm
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15539489}. Cytoplasm {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15539489}.
CC Note=Binds to chromatin from the end of mitosis until prophase.
CC Localizes to the cytoplasm of neurons.
CC -!- DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Ubiquitously expressed in embryos by late
CC gastrulation. Becomes predominantly expressed in the nervous system as
CC morphogenesis progresses. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15539489}.
CC -!- DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE: Chromosomal, neuroanatomical, guidance and egg-
CC laying defects. Altering the activity of both the dorsal repellent slt-
CC 1 and mau-2 leads to the abnormal dorsal projection of the AVM axon.
CC Migrating cells and axons are mispositioned along both the antero-
CC posterior and dorsoventral body axes. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:8601479,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:9362469}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the SCC4/mau-2 family. {ECO:0000305}.
