CC -!- FUNCTION: Sigma factors are initiation factors that promote the
CC attachment of plastid-encoded RNA polymerase (PEP) to specific
CC initiation sites and are then released (Probable). Controls the
CC transcription of the psaA and psaB genes in chloroplast, and thus
CC maintains the abundance of the core protein complex PsaA-PsaB of
CC photosystem I (PSI) in the thylakoid membrane (PubMed:17651366).
CC Maintains PSI activity, sufficient rate of electron transfer from PSII
CC to PSI, and photochemical efficiency (PubMed:17651366).
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17651366, ECO:0000305|PubMed:17651366}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Plastid, chloroplast {ECO:0000255}.
CC -!- TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed in shoots (PubMed:9421493). Expressed in
CC the tips of fully elongated leaves (PubMed:15118338). Expressed in leaf
CC blades (PubMed:17651366). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15118338,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:17651366, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9421493}.
CC -!- INDUCTION: Induced by light in dark-grown seedllings.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:9421493}.
CC -!- DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE: Pale-green leaf phenotype due to reduced
CC chlorophyll content. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17651366}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the sigma-70 factor family. {ECO:0000305}.
