CC -!- FUNCTION: Has antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and
CC fungi but has weak or no activity against a range of Gram-negative
CC bacteria except P.faecalis. Active against the Gram-positive bacteria
CC E.faecium 091299 (MIC=37.5 uM), S.aureus ATCC 25923 (MIC=2.4 uM),
CC S.carnosus KHS (MIC=19 uM), B.licheniformis X39 (MIC=2.4 uM) and
CC R.rhodochrous X15 (MIC=1.2 uM) and a lower activity against E.faecalis
CC 981 (MIC=75 uM). Active against the Gram-negative bacterium P.faecalis
CC X29 (MIC=9.5 uM) is virtually inactive against E.coli ATCC 25922
CC (MIC=150 uM), and inactive against P.aeruginosa and S.typhi. Has
CC antifungal activity against C.albicans ATCC 2002 (MIC=9.5 uM) and is
CC also active against the slime mold 090223 (MIC=1.2 uM). Has low
CC hemolytic activity against human erythrocytes (LC(50)=75 uM).
