CC   -!- FUNCTION: Component of the general transcription and DNA repair factor
CC       IIH (TFIIH) core complex, which is involved in general and
CC       transcription-coupled nucleotide excision repair (NER) of damaged DNA
CC       and in RNA transcription by RNA polymerase II (By similarity). In NER,
CC       TFIIH acts by opening DNA around the lesion to allow the excision of
CC       the damaged oligonucleotide and its replacement by a new DNA fragment
CC       (By similarity). In transcription, TFIIH has an essential role in
CC       transcription initiation (By similarity). When the pre-initiation
CC       complex (PIC) has been established, TFIIH is required for promoter
CC       opening and promoter escape (By similarity). Necessary for the
CC       stability of the TFIIH complex and for the presence of normal levels of
CC       TFIIH in the cell (PubMed:34824371). Required for efficient binding of
CC       TFIIH to damaged DNA (PubMed:34824371). Dispensable for normal
