CC -!- FUNCTION: Probable transcription factor, which may be responsible for
CC the formation of myoepithelial cells in early muscle development in
CC larva and the formation of non-muscle tissues in later bud stages and
CC mesoderm-like structures in the medusa. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11112336}.
CC -!- SUBUNIT: Efficient DNA binding requires dimerization with another bHLH
CC protein. Homodimer (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q11094}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q15672,
CC ECO:0000255|PROSITE-ProRule:PRU00981}.
CC -!- TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expression is seen at the point of medusa formation
CC in the ectodermal and endodermal bud tissues, and in the entocodon
CC which gives rise to all smooth and striated muscle cells. After the
CC subumbrellar plate differentiates from the endoderm, strong expression
CC is detected until the medusa detaches from the gonzoid. Expression is
CC observed in the distal part of the medusa but diminishes in entocodon-
CC derived muscles as the tissues differentiate, with expression
CC disappearing completely after stage 8. In later stages expression is
CC seen in the distal and proximal parts of the bud and depending on state
CC of maturity, in the developing gonadal tissue.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11112336}.
CC -!- DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Detected in the embryo and early planula larva
CC stage. It disappears when larvae transform to the polyp stage after 2-3
CC days. Strong expression is seen in the gonozoid and in all stages of
CC medusa bud development. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11112336}.
