RT "A novel insecticidal spider peptide that affects the mammalian voltage-
RT gated ion channel hKv1.5.";
RL Front. Pharmacol. 11:563858-563858(2020).
CC -!- FUNCTION: Insecticidal to house crickets (PubMed:33597864). It induces
CC an excitatory slow-onset impact that leads to irreversible spastic
CC paralysis (PubMed:33597864). It also modifies human voltage-gated
CC potassium channel Kv1.5/KCNA5 (PubMed:33597864). Most likely, it binds
CC to the voltage-sensing domain of the channel, suggesting it does not
CC block the pore but prevents its opening at physiological membrane
CC potentials (PubMed:33597864). The recombinant peptide binds to the
CC channel in an irreversible manner and slows down the hKv1.5 current
CC activation kinetics (PubMed:33597864). It is not toxic to mice, when
CC intracranially injected (at 0.5 ug/g mouse) (PubMed:33597864).
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:33597864}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Secreted {ECO:0000269|PubMed:33597864}.
CC -!- TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed by the venom gland.
CC {ECO:0000305|PubMed:33597864}.
CC -!- MASS SPECTROMETRY: Mass=7477.4; Method=Electrospray;
CC Evidence={ECO:0000269|PubMed:33597864};
CC -!- TOXIC DOSE: PD(50) is 0.05 ug/g (6.6 pmol/g) in house crickets (Acheta
CC domesticus). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:33597864}.
CC -!- TOXIC DOSE: LD(50) is <0.1 ug/g (<13.3 pmol/g) in house crickets
CC (Acheta domesticus). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:33597864}.
CC -!- MISCELLANEOUS: This toxin represents a concentration of ~60 ug per mg
CC of O.supermirabilis dry crude venom. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:33597864}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the neurotoxin 04 (omega-agtx) family. 01 (type
CC I omega-agtx) subfamily. {ECO:0000305}.
