CC -!- FUNCTION: Attaches the virion to the host cell membrane by interacting
CC with glycosaminoglycans, initiating the infection. Unlike other
CC paramyxovirus attachment proteins, lacks both neuraminidase and
CC hemagglutinating activities. In addition to its role in attachment,
CC glycoprotein G interacts with host DDX58 and inhibits DDX58-mediated
CC signaling pathway in order to prevent the establishment of the
CC antiviral state. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:18786997}.
CC -!- SUBUNIT: Homooligomer. Interacts (via N-terminus) with protein M.
CC Interacts with protein F; this interaction occurs on the surface of
CC infected cells. Interacts with protein SH (By similarity). Interacts
CC with host DDX58; this interaction inhibits host immune response.
CC {ECO:0000250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:18516301}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Host membrane {ECO:0000305}; Single-pass type I
CC membrane protein {ECO:0000305}. Virion.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the metapneumoviruses glycoprotein G family.
CC {ECO:0000305}.
