CC -!- FUNCTION: Caps actin filaments but displays neither severing nor cross-
CC linking nor nucleating activities. Protovillin seems to be a villin
CC precursor with only archaic capping activity. It lacks essential
CC changes in the sequence to allow bundling of actin filaments and
CC consequently the appearance of microvilli.
