CC   -!- FUNCTION: Male determiner protein (M-factor) that controls male somatic
CC       sexual differentiation. Acts as a dominant factor that regulates the
CC       mRNA splicing of doublesex (dsx) transcripts and promotes expression of
CC       male splice forms of dsx. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:27365445}.
CC   -!- DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Expression is male-specific. Transcription begins
CC       in embryos between 2 and 2.5 hours after oviposition, before blastoderm
CC       formation, and expression and continues throughout the life of the
CC       mosquito. Expression precedes establishment of sex-specific splicing of
